Training for careful and lawful voting procedure
As the political capital of the Netherlands, The Hague is a central hub at election time. Not only because it is one of the largest cities in the country, but also because all postal votes from abroad arrive in this city. So it takes a lot of people to organize elections. Thousands of people together make sure that voting is done carefully and legally. These people must know what the rules and guidelines are and how to make the process run as smoothly as possible.
On behalf of The Hague City Council, we developed an adaptive learning platform and short, content-rich modules that allow users to develop the skills important to their specific roles within elections. Thousands of people work on their personal development with the platform, focusing on learning experiences and with personalized learning products.
Pretest highlights knowledge gaps
Using a pre-test, users can test their current level of knowledge and the platform highlights so-called knowledge gaps for each user. The platform automatically ticks off topics that users have already mastered. Participants thus receive only the learning solutions related to subjects they have not yet (sufficiently) mastered. In this way, the learning platform prevents users from having to learn topics they already have knowledge of. The learning content is divided into short, interactive and practice-oriented modules. This ensures that learning is a fun and recognizable experience.
Feedback from the target audience has been very positive. People can fully focus on the knowledge they do not yet possess. This prevents noise and cognitive overload in the target group. The input of volunteers has been included in the development of the platform and they therefore feel that their feedback has really been listened to. Moreover, almost 90% of users indicate that they find the learning platform very user-friendly.
