Maybe you already know us, have worked with us for years. You may have no idea who works at inBrain. Our team is what makes us unique, which is why we like to tell a little more about the people behind the products!
This time we introduce you to Maarten van Putten, account manager at inBrain.
Do you have a remarkable hobby?
‘Well … what is remarkable? In any case, my biggest hobby is cycling. On a racing bike, MTB or a refurbished vintage bike, it doesn’t matter to me. By getting on a bike you’re faster than by foot and you get to more special places than by car. I love to clear my head and stretch my limits outdoors. Arnhem (my hometown) is a perfect place for a cyclist as far as I’m concerned. Around the corner are National Park the Hoge Veluwe and the Veluwezoom. Beautiful stretches of nature where heath and forests alternate on undulating terrain. Via the dike you can follow the Rhine in a westerly direction (tip: always make sure you have a tailwind on the way back) and then pedal home again via the Betuwe, which is best known for its fruit crops and vast pastures. Also the hills of Nijmegen are not far away. So every ride is an experience on its own.
What is your favorite spot in the office?
‘There are two, I think. Is that even allowed? I like the kitchen. Here, in fact, is the La Cimbali! A true Italian coffee machine that produces a cup (or 6) of delicious coffee every day. In addition, the kitchen is also a place where you quickly meet colleagues and can easily connect, chit-chat, briefly tune something out and socialize. In addition, the Playseat is also one of my favorite spots. Pretending to be Max Verstappen on the Zandvoort circuit, I like it!
What song do you think of when you think of inBrain?
‘Not one specific number. When I walk around the office I sing and whistle all day. Then it’s like a jukebox in my head, endless genres, styles and artists pass by. Thoughts are automatically accompanied by a matching theme song, which I enjoy performing. Always thought nobody would be happy about my singing skills, but it turns out my flute skills are even less to the liking of some colleagues.’
Do you have a nickname?
‘Yes! Put, as in: van Putten. Originated long ago when I became friends with several Maartens. So out of sheer necessity. Nowadays there are not many places where people call me Maarten. Although it took a long time at work for this nickname to stick.
If you could snap your fingers and become an expert at something, what would it be?
‘A survival expert.’
