Maybe you already know us, having worked with us for years. You may have no idea who works at inBrain. Our team is what makes us unique, which is why we like to tell a little more about the people behind the products!
This time we introduce you to Ilse Wijntjes, Digital Learning Specialist at inBrain.
How do you prefer to start your workday?
Frankly, I am not a distinct morning person. I function best when I can start up quietly. I am what you call a diesel: I need a while to get going. Fortunately, I have OV as a natural rite of passage between bed and desk. And although I regularly stand there like some kind of sardine between fellow travelers, it still helps me wake up slowly and mentally switch from home to work. By the time I get to the office, I’m usually up to speed. And when that happens, then I’m really awake: then I’m chatting cozily and can get to work with fresh energy. Oh yes, and with FOCUS!
If you could only have three apps on your phone, which would you choose (and why)?
Anyway, the Library app is the number one choice. I’m really big fan of the library, both physically and online. As a reader, I really like that you only have to read two books within a year to already have the money out of it. My second app is A Kinder World, a super lovely initiative that combines love of plants with mindfulness. A little oasis of calm on your phone, completely free (at least for now). And finally Polarsteps, because all my friends (and family) are traveling the world and I love following their adventures. It’s nice to see that they are doing well AND it gives me plenty of ideas for my own future travel plans.

Do you have a special hobby?
I don’t have a real hobby, but I am always doing something creative. You could say that every month I discover a new creative hobby, from playing kalimba to pottery or, like now, jewelry making. I love working with my hands, trying new techniques and creating something tangible. For me it is the way to clear my head and at the same time give space to my curiosity and creativity.
If you could work from any location in the world, where would that be?
I would choose an inspiring, quiet place with a nice view. Preferably somewhere with large windows, lots of light and just enough life around me to give me energy. I don’t necessarily need tropical beaches or lots of snow; I am especially happy with a nice environment where I can concentrate and recharge. And although location can do a lot, for me the happiness is often in the people around me. As long as friends, family and nice colleagues are around, I quickly feel at home.
If inBrain were an orchestra, what would your role be?
What a question! I must honestly admit that I am not particularly musically gifted. If I were to be an instrument in an orchestra, I would probably be a flute: bright, cheerful and easy to hear, without being overpowering. I love adding color and energy, connecting people and making the whole thing just a little more lively. I am not necessarily in the spotlight, but I am clearly present, always involved and alert to what is going on. In a nice, safe setting I feel at my best, then I dare to take the initiative, contribute ideas and help set the pace or tone.

More about Ilse
As a digital learning specialist at inBrain, I help organizations develop learning solutions that really work. What inspires me is talking to people who are passionate about their profession. That enthusiasm is contagious and helps me to transform their knowledge into clear, accessible stories. Because I believe that learning is fun, and that it doesn’t have to be a “have to”. That’s why I want to motivate and enthuse people with content that evokes curiosity and invites exploration. Whether it’s a complex topic or a practical tip: if you bring it in the right way, it touches people. Exactly that is what I love to do.
With my background in Educational Sciences, Human Resource Management and a coaching education, I have a broad base that comes into its own in my work. This allows me to use both analytical and creative thinking to design learning experiences that are both practical and inspiring. Especially within digital learning I see it as a great challenge and opportunity to stimulate people’s motivation, so that learning is not only effective, but also remains fun. This way I make sure that people enjoy discovering new knowledge and skills.
